Functionalization

Functional surfaces, which are surfaces whose properties have been specifically adapted, open up enormous potential for component optimization. Microstructures which can be found in the area of botany or in wildlife are often copied here.

The areas of application are diverse: In addition to changes to wettability or adhesion properties, functional surfaces can also produce effects that reduce friction and abrasion.
